The most advanced of our children’s choirs is the Concert Choir. This choir is one of our touring ensembles and travels each summer both nationally and internationally. The Concert Choir meets on Tuesday evenings 5:30-8:00 at our main campus, The Phoenix Center for the Arts in Central Phoenix. The choristers in the Concert Choir are between 6th and 8th grade. Mrs. Andrea Squires directs the Concert Choir and Mrs. Jennifer Griffith is the collaborative pianist.
The purpose of the Concert Choir is to refine and cultivate the fundamental elements of good vocal and choral technique as well as provide a wide variety of performance experiences to its members. Each chorister receives thirty minutes of music literacy instruction independent of the rehearsal. Choristers will raise their level of musicianship through thorough preparation of the music. Choristers represent the Phoenix Children’s Chorus in an enthusiastic and professional manner at all PCC functions and performances. Concert Choir members continue to learn and perform music from all genres and enhance the literature through movement and choralography where appropriate. Choristers will be role models in rehearsal, performance, and travel. Participation in the annual tour is a required component of membership in the Concert Choir.
